Cabo San Lucas
Cabo San Lucas The town of Cabo San Lucas has experienced explosive growth in just over 30 years. Once serving as a small fishing village populated by only a few hundred people, this town is now a vacation traveller’s haven. It is home to an extensive number of first-class hotels, restaurants, shops and other attractions. In the last 15 years, Cabo San Lucas has become a Mecca for the fishing and golfing crowds, and for the younger Americans who consider Cabo as the quintessential party town. Cabo is ideal for both a weeklong trip or for a weekend getaway. Perhaps Cabo’s greatest attraction is its natural environment. Bordered by the warm Sea of Cortez (called Mar de Cortes or Golfo de California) and the cool Pacific Ocean, Cabo’s beaches, peaks and skies converge to offer the vacationer a myriad of pleasures. San José del Cabo San José de Cabo lies east of Cabo San Lucas on the tip of the Baja California Peninsula. Comparably ancient (270 years old) to Cabo San Lucas, San José de Cabo offers a lovely, serene setting for vacationers. The main thoroughfare, Paseo Mijares, is a wonderful place to stroll, with its celebrated, ornate stone arches and quaint, pastel-coloured cottages. Through strict historic preservation ordinances and local environmental activism, San José de Cabo has successfully maintained its old-world persona. It continues to be one of the most pleasant destinations on the Baja California Peninsula
